Artist: Igor Mikhailenko

Strong [str??] 1) а) strong, possessing big physical strength; б) strong, healthy; 2) а) resolute, unshakeable, proof, brave; б) firm, convinced; 3) strong, the mighty of this world.

The project «STRONG» - is a series of artworks by Igor Mikhailenko (Krasnodar) of the late 2009-early 2010, to date, a 16 paintings, a view expressed a few more pieces. But even in the existing volume, «STRONG» earlier it wasn’t exhibited anywhere. The canvases represent a series of fights of fighting dogs, that serves as a specific massage to modern street culture.
Boulle-Baiting - bloody fight of dogs, decisive, whose side will be lucky and who will appear the winner. The space of the canvas - this is a fight where the most powerful developed and recorded conversation mechanical connection and interaction of the enemy, when literally penetrate into the throat and do not want to let out their own canines. Grin as an expression of naked aggression, instinctive requirement for an attack and absence of compromise in resolving the conflict.
On monochromatic "Baconian" planes impressive dabs are represent merging into a coherent mass of strong athletic body of fighting dogs, related to the tenacious struggle, contour, which is strongly marked, but inside it is practically impossible to distinguish the silhouettes, which pumps more emotional stress pattern. The author of a series make an attempt to conclude all the passions in tight capsule. However, the created pressure does not manage to be closed in a limit, the canvas set in the perimeter, it due to the maximal approximation and a fragmentation of a composition, an abrupt wave enters into our present "out of", appealing to the communications with the spectator who in turn should possess iron nerves and stable mentality, for the sake of proper response to an offered situation.
Cloths of a set «STRONG» is an opposition of two natures: the deaf infinity, personifying sad life, and a zealous variety of imidiately lives – which reveals due to the plastic decision of picturesque invoices.
Strong is a formular definition of the concept of a set of Igor Mikhajlenko where force and a fortress, strength of communication, a hope almost antique beauty of the developed muscles appearing zoomorphic images is the central motivation to expression.
